We were part of the Blue Flag 2022-2023 Ceremony, in which we kept Cancun as the destination with the highest number of Blue Flag vessels worldwide. Read on and find out everything we did that day.
For us it is vital to take care of our most precious natural resource, the sea. That's why we dedicate a large part of our efforts to becoming a sustainable company concerned about conservation and minimizing the footprint we leave behind. And since actions speak louder than words, we let our Blue Flag certification speak for us.
On November 17 at Playa Delfines (El Mirador), we attended the ceremony in which Blue Flag Mexico granted 41 awards to beaches, hotels, and boats for their excellence and commitment to sustainability. The awards were presented as follows:
31 Cancun Sailing sustainable tourism catamarans that met the standards of the Blue Flag reviews.
In addition, the schools that met the criteria of the Eco-Schools 2022 program were announced.
During the event, Joaquín Díaz Ríos, Executive Director of the FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education), the State Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra, and the Mayor of Benito Juárez, Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña, were also present.
Of the 41 awards, 31 belong to our vessels. For us, it is an honor to be the company that led Mexico to position itself as the country with the highest number of boats carrying the Blue Flag badge worldwide.
To earn the awards, vessels must meet Blue Flag criteria through audits that rate the quality, knowledge, and performance of crews and their boats.
During the day of the awards ceremony for the 2022-2023 season, we also had a visit from the Blue Flag Mexico auditors. These were some of their activities on board our vessels.
The auditors checked the different areas and points of the vessels, such as:
During the drill, one of the sailors throws himself into the sea, and the crew must pull him to safety, applying the established safety knowledge and logistics.
Watch the following video to learn about the inspection.
Congratulations!
We continue to work every day to maintain and increase the number of vessels awarded with the Blue Flag badge in order to offer a sustainable, safe and quality service to all our visitors.
