CANCUN SPRING BREAK SAFETY

Cancun Nightclub

Is Cancun safe during Spring break? Yes, if you follow basic safety precautions, you'll have a great time:

Be polite: No matter your skin color, size, job, or nationality, we all deserve to be treated with respect. In Mexico, it is customary to greet at first contact and thank you when you receive a service.

Respect the rules: Every place has safety rules. Take care of the facilities where you visit and pay attention to the authorities in case of emergencies.

Don't get involved in shady business: 98% of the time, tourists are safe in their hotels. The other 2% decide to get illegal substances and talk to the wrong people (such as criminal groups).

Stay close to your group: If you don't know the city, you could get lost, that's why we recommend you stay within the tourist areas and stay with your group of friends, especially if you are a girl.

Take care of your drink: If you order bottles or cans, make sure they open them in front of you. If you order a cocktail in crowded places, check that the drink does not contain foreign substances.

Take care of your belongings: Leave your passport and valuables at your hotel. Avoid going out partying with too many things because you could lose them.

Get travel insurance: Travel insurance is your best bet during any trip. You never know what could happen, and it is always advisable to be prepared.

WHAT TO PACK TO GO TO CANCUN?

Spring Break Edition

Suitcase to Cancun

These are the things you can't forget to pack if you come to Cancun for the Spring Break season in Cancun 2023:

Biodegradable sunscreen: Make sure your sunscreen is biodegradable, as in Cancun and Riviera Maya. Tour operators will not let you enter the sea if you wear sunscreen with chemicals that can damage the marine ecosystem. Prolonged exposure to the sun can cause sunburn, illness, and long-term damage.

Swimsuit: One suit for the sea and another, more aesthetic, for pool parties.

For daytime, cool and comfortable outfits: If you are not used to the heat of the Caribbean, it is best to pack light and cool clothing, always choosing light colors.

For nighttime party outfits: Look for something comfortable for dancing but bright enough to dazzle.

Hat and sunglasses: Days are sunny in Cancun, so we recommend you bring a hat or cap. Don't forget sunglasses to protect your eyes.

DOLLARS TO PESOS IN CANCUN

Money Exchange Cancun

Cash and credit/ debit cards are commonly used in Mexico. Mexico's currency is the Mexican peso (MXN), and the most commonly used cards are Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Almost all large businesses in Mexico accept card payments, but we recommend you ask if they accept American Express.

When paying in cash, some businesses may tell you they "do not accept dollars". You will have to exchange your dollars for pesos or look for places that accept them and agree to the exchange rate they set. To change dollars to Mexican pesos in Cancun, we recommend you do it in downtown exchange houses and avoid the airport, where the exchange rate is not always ideal.

⚠️ Remember: Never exchange money with strangers, even if they offer a good exchange rate. It could be a scam.
